What makes a photo a special moment in time? How can a photographer capture a feeling?

As a couple preparing for an engagement photoshoot, it can feel daunting to know just what to expect, especially if it's your first time.

As a photographer, it is my job not only to capture the smiles you share, but each moment between you. The best way to do this is to create an experience to make the memories last as long as the photos taken. I'll be your guide, showing you how to pose while having fun along the way!

Engagement & Wedding Photography Inspiration | Using the Backdrop as a Prop

Our first pose starts with the backdrop. Serving not only as good contrast, a wall, tree, bench, stairs, or other feature can serve as the canvas for your photos. Leaning the your partner against a tree or wall allows the perfect position for a dynamic photo.

Wedding Photography Pose Inspiration | Movie Style

An easy way to create a photo that looks like a movie still is to look away from the camera and engage in laughter, conversation, or movement like walking toward the photographer. Cropping the photo above the waste or shoulders can make it look even more cinematic, especially while leaning in right before the kiss. For a special documentary style, get your wedding party involved! Capturing their reactions in the moment creates what looks like a scene from a movie.

Proposal, Wedding, and Engagement: Don't Forget the Details

Particularly for wedding, engagement, or proposal shoots, including small details like your rings, flowers, pieces of your background, etc, will help spark memories long after the shoot is over.

Couples Proposal Pose Inspiration: In action, Posed, and Close Up Shots

The goal of proposal photography is to tell your story through each moment. An effective way to do this is to capture the moment from further back and then pair that with posed and detailed shots. These make for excellent coordinating wall art photos and social media posts.

If you are looking for a St. Louis photographer who can help you achieve your dream photoshoot, let's make it happen! Whether it's your wedding, proposal, couples, or engagement photoshoot, we'll create the photos, and memories, you've always wanted.
